The author of the successful 'Telesa' book series says she hopes to see more young Pacific writers take advantage of the internet and digital publishing to get their stories out.
Lani Wendt Young has recently released physical copies of the final book in the Telesa series, The Bone Bearer, after first releasing it online.
The series, described as a contemporary thriller-romance interwoven with Pacific mythology, has sold more than 15,000 electronic and printed copies.
She also made 52 thousand e-copies available for free, as a way to get more young Pacific people reading.
Lani Wendt Young says to get her books out to a wide audience, the internet was essential and key.
"I think that digital publishing is an exciting way for our Pacific writers to get their stories out there, because it's fast, it's quick, and it's cheap. It costs more to mail this book to America than it does to print it, and that's a huge handicap when it comes to trying to distribute our work. So I'd love to see more of our young Pacific writers taking advantage of the internet and digital publishing."
