Five Chinese nationals removed from plane in Pago Pago

Five Chinese nationals were removed from a Hawaiian Airlines flight in American Samoa last week because they were allegedly traveling to Honolulu using counterfeit US visas.

Our correspondent in Pago Pago says the Chinese nationals were understood to be already on the plane at Pago Pago International airport on Thursday when they were escorted off by airport security and employees of Hawaiian Airlines.

They were removed on the instructions of Immigration and Customs in Hawaii, who alerted the manager of the local Hawaiian Airlines Office.

The Chief Immigration Officer Tamasa Dennis Lutu declined to comment about the case saying the matter is under investigation.
