Heavy rain wasn't enough to prevent more heavy defeats for Pacific teams competing in the Oceania Cup hockey tournament in Stratford.

The Papua New Guinea women's team were thrashed 25-0 by hosts New Zealand, while Samoa's women conceded 23 goals against Australia in their second round match on Thursday.

In the men's draw, Papua New Guinea scored their first goals of the tournament in a 4-1 victory over Samoa.
