Fiji's president pushes conservation message

Fiji's president says the region needs to dramatically step up efforts to conserve nature.

FBC News reports Ratu Epeli Nailatikau says there needs to be a revolution in personal attitudes.to safeguarding the environment

He has just assumed the chairmanship of the Pacific Islands Conference on Nature Conservation and Protected Areas.

Ratu Epeli says, for too long, Pacific people have embraced one of the worst facets of western consumerism - the culture of the throwaway package.
