Teams from Hawaii, California and Utah will be taking part in the 11th edition of Samoa Bowl youth sporting event in American Samoa.
The off-island teams arrive on the 23rd of this month with the volleyball tournament starting on Christmas Day and the Hawaii All Stars vs American Samoa All Stars football match scheduled for December the 28th at the Veterans Memorial Stadium.
Chairman of the Samoa Bowl Committee Lealao Mel Purcell says the event is a great way to showcase the talents of Samoan youth.
"It is going to be exciting - it is our 11th Samoa Bowl - and hopefully we can entice some of our high school football players to go beyond now that the season is over. Samoa bowl will be their last hoorah, if you will, before they leave to go somewhere else to play but I also understand that the coach who is bringing the Utah Women's Volleyball team is bringing three scholarships for the girls and I'm hoping that three more of our girls will get a chance to qualify for those three scholarships."
