The start of direct flights between the Samoan capital and Tonga's Vava'u have been delayed another month.
The commencement of direct flights between Apia and Vava'u originally targeted for the 5th July has been delayed another month.
Following his meeting with the Samoa Prime Minister in Apia last week, Tonga's Deputy Prime Minister Samiu Vaipulu said the new route was scheduled to start by flying in a delegation invited to the Tongan King's birthday on the 4th July.
However, Polynesian Airlines CEO Taua Fatu Tielu told Talamua Online that the flights have been delayed as the timing coincides with major maintanence scheduled for the aircrafts which will take several weeks.
The direct flights will be much cheaper for people in Tonga and Samoa, who currently have to fly via Fiji and Auckland to get to Apia and vice versa.
