The United Nations has released 1.8 million US dollars to help flood affected Solomon Islands.
The money is to be dispersed through UN agencies working with mainly women and children in evacuation centres and flood-affected areas.
UNICEF, the UN Population Fund and the World Health Organisation will use the funds for programmes including those targeting health, nutrition, immunisation and water.
About 700,000 dollars will be used by UNICEF for emergency hygiene and sanitation programmes.
The agency says nearly 24,000 children under the age of five are at risk of disease outbreaks and malnutrition.
The WHO will use about 600-thousand dollars for disease surveillance and control, nutrition screening, emergency repairs and buying drugs and other health supplies.
The agency says almost two months into the emergency, the main concern is the outbreak of disease.
Money will also be used for supplies to pregnant women and mothers with newborns, and resupplying hospitals and clinics with reproductive health medication and equipment.
