China presents plans for Vanuatu school upgrade

9:08 pm on 12 November 2014

A Chinese design team and the Vanuatu Ministry of Education have settled on designs for upgrades and extensions at Malapoa High School in Port Vila.

The school, which is nearly 50 years old, has been in need of repairs for years and the Chinese government is funding what our correspondent calls an almost complete rebuild.

It will include 24 new classrooms, 8 laboratories, administrative spaces, a library and dormitories.

China is presently building a major convention centre in Port Vila and it is expected to manage the construction of the new school buildings.
