Sport: Samoa determined to play the game their way against NZ

Samoa netball coach Marcia Hardcastle is hoping her players will not be overawed in their Oceania Series clash against New Zealand in Suva.

The Silver Ferns thrashed Fiji 81-28 in the tournament opener between the teams ranked second and seventh in the world.

Samoa are even further down the rankings but come into the Tri-Series fresh from an unbeaten run at the Nations Cup in Singapore last month.

Marcia Hardcastle says it's an opportunity for her squad to impress against the best with World Cup places still up for grabs.

"Most of our girls are from New Zealand so they know the type of game they do play. We will never match the speed of them or the fitness levels [because] they have better resources than we have but I think what we've got to do is just stay focused on what we do well and that's probably making sure we don't [stop] our style of game because we're playing the Ferns, basically".
