Jim Andrews said he has suspended Mr Turi for a period of 21 days over allegations of serious disciplinary offences.

In 2016, a commission of inquiry was established to examine the shooting of protesting university students by police under Mr Turi's command.

It's not known if the inquiry and the suspension are linked.
