Papua New Guinea's Nosiana Pokana has been cleared to play international cricket again after tests found that his bowling action is now legal.

The 22 year old was reported during an ODI match against Hong Kong seven months ago and an independent assessment in January found the elbow extension in his bowling action exceeded the 15 degrees level of tolerance permitted under the regulations.

But a reassessment of his bowling action in Brisbane last month found it was now legal.

The decision means Pokana will be available for selection in the PNG Barramundis team for the ICC World T20 East Asia Pacific Qualifier in Fiji in August.

Umpires will be able to report him if they believe he is displaying a suspect action and not reproducing the legal action from the June reassessment.

If Pokana is reported for a second time within a two year period he will be required to submit to further testing, and if his action is found to be illegal he will be automatically suspended from bowling in international cricket for a minimum one year period.
