Last week, hundreds of police and corrections officers converged on parliament before some broke into and vandalised parts of the building, harassing parliamentary staff and demanding payment for work during the APEC summit.

Mr Baki said the police had received credible evidence and arranged a search warrant which was granted by the District Court.

The 11 policemen were charged with being in possession of various items believed to have been stolen from Parliament during the rampage on 20 November, he said.

All 11 are based in the National Capital District and are in police custody.
