AT THE MOVIES #800                   IS THIS THE END?

Simon Morris wonders, if the success of extended franchises is because film-makers have forgotten how to write endings.  And he welcomes three short, sharp movies that do come to a conclusion.

Rosie is a heartbreaking Irish film about a family forced to live in their car after their flat is sold.  Written by Roddy Doyle (The Commitments).

Machine looks at where the development of Artificial Intelligence is heading – brave new world or Terminator-style dystopia?

And The Wretched is the latest of the new breed of horror genre picture – as thought-provoking as it is scary.   Directed by newcomers the Pierce Brothers.
