10:18 A last ditch effort across the ditch

Australia is heading to the polls tomorrow to decide which party will run the country for the next three years.

Its mandatory for every Australian aged 18 and over to register and vote and many have already done so in early voting with the Northern Territory leading the way at 32.4 per cent of the voting population having cast their ballot already.

Pundits are calling it TIGHT.  We catch up with author, commentator and the chairman of the Australian Republic Movement, Peter Fitzsimons who tells us how the race is shaping up.

10:25 Monkeypox - Should we be worried?

A rash, fever, headache, muscle aches, backache, swollen lymph nodes, chills and exhaustion - these are the symptoms of Monkeypox, a rare viral disease now infecting humans.

So far there are no cases in New Zealand that we know about. Australia has confirmed its first case of monkeypox this afternoon with cases also being found in United States, Canada, France, Italy, Sweden, the United Kingdom, Portugal and Spain.

Karyn asks virologist Jemma Geoghegan if we should be worried.
