10: 18 Political Poll Analysis

A One News Kantar Poll shows National and Act could govern together with 62 seats -  but Christopher Luxon has taken a hit in his popularity count - sliding a couple of points.... so too has the Prime Minister.

A General Election is still more than a year away so what- if anything- does this meaningfully tell us?

Our political reporter Anneke Smith joins Karyn from the press gallery.

10:25 Blow Hard for Rail Safety

Kiwis are being asked to BLOW LEFT and BLOW RIGHT to avoid collisions on train tracks - which are on the rise.

In the last decade, 155 people have died in collisions with trains in New Zealand, and 91 more people have been seriously injured.

The year to June 30, saw eight people lose their lives in collisions with trains.

In the last year there have been 28 collisions at public level crossings, more than twice the 13 collisions in 2021.

Karyn asks TrackSAFE's Megan Drayton if we are too cavalier.

10:30 Dunedin Cemetery Tours

For Gregor Campbell tourism is dead - well it's - "the dead" to be precise.

The Dunedin man runs tours in cemeteries around the city.

He's an Historian and Taphophile  - which is what you call a  "lover of cemeteries"

He tells Karyn he's intrigued with what's written on the head stones.
