WATCH: Lisa Crawley 'See Me Soon'

From RNZ Music, 12:59 pm on 27 October 2020

RNZ Music is thrilled to present the new single from Kiwi-born LA-based indie-pop singer Lisa Crawley. ‘See Me Soon’ comes with a heartwarming animated video, inspired by 1950’s Russian cartoon ‘Little Gray Neck’, a story about a female duckling on a journey, and the friends she makes along the way.

Multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Lisa Crawley grew up teaching the other kids in her class to play the recorder. Three EPs, two albums, and numerous singles later, she’s performing for audiences around the world.

Lisa has an impressive musical resume: she’s arranged and performed her own songs for Symphony Orchestras, and opened for the likes of Suzanne Vega, John Mayer, Jools Holland, and Paul Weller, to name a few. She’s been selected twice for the songwriters’ residency at the prestigious Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity in Canada, and has been nominated four times for NZ’s coveted Silver Scroll songwriting award.

After moving to L.A two months before lockdown, Lisa has been keeping herself busy making videos from her kitchen (‘Clear History’ & ‘Show You What Love Is’), fostering animals, and hosting live ‘Piano Karaoke’. However, her experience hasn’t been without hardships, ‘See Me Soon’ is a love-letter to family and friends back home.

The song’s animated music video could melt even the coldest of hearts. It follows the journey of a duckling who becomes separated from its family,  perfectly matching the lyrics to the song, which are about Lisa’s wish to see her family and friends, who she’s been separated from during the pandemic.

Lisa’s highly anticipated third album is due for release in mid-2021.
