VIDEO PREMERE: Ida Lune 'Apart'

From RNZ Music, 9:59 am on 11 November 2020

After eight years together, Wellington vocal trio Ida Lune are releasing their first album. RNZ Music is excited to present ‘Apart’, the fourth single and video from the record, which is due out next Wednesday.

Genre-bending vocal trio Ida Lune is made up of members Anna Wooles, Deanne Krieg (WHIM, Dawn Diver), and Rose Blake (Blaek, Dawn Diver). They bring together contrasting backgrounds in jazz, classical, and electronic music.

The group met in 2013 while performing back-up harmonies for experimental folk band Fyukuo’s Fables. They quickly turned their newfound friendship into a band, but have waited almost eight years to release their debut album.

‘Apart’ and its accompanying video grapple with themes of isolation and loneliness. The video sees the band support each other as they carry a wreath of flowers, paying respect to and reflecting on this feeling as they lay it down at the tide line to float away.

Filmed by cinematographer Lilian Peng, the video uses drone shots and slow-motion to capture the rugged beauty of Red Rocks Pariwhero on Wellington’s south coast.

‘Apart’ is the fourth release from the genre-defying band’s upcoming self-titled album, due out November 18th.
