A man has drowned at Kaiate Falls in Bay of Plenty.
Police were alerted about 2pm this afternoon after the 29-year-old got into trouble at a swimming hole near the falls.
He died at the scene.
The death has been referred to the coroner.
The man's death was the eighth drowning this holiday period.
