Doctors in Tasmania have delivered the baby of a heavily pregnant woman who was killed when her car was hit by a stolen vehicle.

The 24-year-old woman's 32-week unborn child was cut from the body at the Royal Hobart Hospital.

Police said the newborn survived.

The 15-year-old driver of the stolen vehicle fled the scene but was found at a house south of Hobart and is under police guard in hospital.

The stolen car was seen driving at 120 kilometres an hour before the crash and three other young passengers were also taken to hospital.
