The former head of Christchurch Airport Ltd has resigned as the chair of another council-owned company to take up a new, as-yet-unannounced executive position.

Jim Boult, who was chief executive for five years has resigned as the chair of City Care, the council's contracting company, effective immediately.

Mr Boult has now accepted an executive position with another company, but says he is not at liberty to name the company yet.

He confirmed to Radio New Zealand the role will involve domestic and international travel, but he is likely to remain based in Christchurch and Queenstown.

Christchurch City Holdings Ltd chief executive Bob Lineham said Mr Boult has been a great contributor to the group of council-owned companies over many years.
