Biotechnology company seeks to expand into US

Listed biotechnology company Pacific Edge wants to raise $21 million to fund its expansion to the United States where it plans to open a laboratory by the end of next year.

Its flagship product, Cxbladder can detect bladder cancer, and is non-invasive and cheaper than current tests.

It is using a McDonalds-like franchise model to sell the product around the world.

The Dunedin-based firm is seeking to raise capital through habitual and institutional shareholders.

Chief executive David Darling says there are huge opportunities in the US market and Cxbladder is very accurate and sees more than 95% of high grade and late stage tumours.
