A runner who lost his way in the Tararua Ranges has been found alive and well.
Alastair Shelton, 33, of Wellington went into the bush alone on Saturday morning, and had not been heard from since.
Senior Sergeant Carolyn Watson said he was spotted by a helicopter operator at about 10am on Monday near Mt Holdsworth.
She said he was cold, tired and hungry.
Ten search teams went into the Tararua Forest Park in wet and windy conditions on Sunday, but could not find him.
