Holidaymakers urged to watch out for Jeep

Police investigating the fatal shooting of a road worker in South Waikato are asking holidaymakers over Easter to be on the lookout for a vehicle at the centre of the case.

George Taiaroa, 67, was shot on 19 March on Tram Road in the Kinleith Forest while directing traffic at a single lane bridge.

Detective Inspector Tim Anderson says police are searching for a blue Jeep Cherokee.

He says as fine weather is expected over Easter, more people will be outdoors and any sightings of the vehicle or anything else suspicious should be reported.

Mr Anderson believes the vehicle could be anywhere in the North Island.
