Redvale death suspicious, say police

8:15 am on 30 March 2013

Three dogs removed from a property at Redvale in Auckland where a woman was found dead on Friday morning have been put down.

Police say the woman did not live at the property but is believed to have been a known visitor to it.

Detective Inspector Greg Cramer says police are treating her death as suspicious, saying she suffered obvious injuries that were not self-inflicted.

Mr Cramer says there is not enough information to draw conclusions and does not want to speculate on what caused the death.

Animal Control was called on Friday morning to remove the dogs to preserve the scene and ensure the safety of police.

A man at the property in Redvale contacted police about 8am saying the woman, in her twenties, was dead.

Mr Cramer says police are investigating the scene alongside scientists and pathologists and a post-mortem will be carried out on Saturday.

Her name will not be released until next of kin have been notified.

A male occupant of the home is assisting police with the investigation.
