Apology byTreasury for email error

11:33 am on 16 April 2013

The Treasury has apologised for sending blank emails to people who pre-registered for shares in Mighty River Power.

Emails were sent on Monday night in batches of 20,000 to people who pre-registered and provided an email address.

However, the Treasury says a formatting error occurred with the first batch of emails, which meant 6000 were sent with blank fields where the name and reference number should be.

It says there was no breach of privacy or other data integrity issue, but it regrets the error occurred.
