Agreement to fight retail crime

5:42 am on 4 September 2009

Retailers Association and the police are to work together to reduce retail theft, which is estimated to cost nearly $2 million per day in lost sales.

Retailers have signed an agreement, which outlines when officers should be called and when offences should be reported.

The association says both parties want a drop in crime and an increase in community safety.

Police say the agreement will lead to joint programmes to reduce crime.
