A witness has told the High Court at Wellington he never saw any arguments between a young Palmerston North drug dealer and the man accused of killing him.

Stephen Hudson, 39, is before the court charged with murdering Nicholas Pike, who disappeared without trace in 2002.

The Crown says Mr Hudson killed Mr Pike because he believed he had informed on him and owed him drug money.

Martin de Latour told the court the men visited his home from time to time and described the pair as "sidekicks".

He said after Mr Pike disappeared Mr Hudson told him his friend had jumped on a boat in Tauranga.
