Police conducting a search for a missing Kapiti Coast woman have recovered a body.
A team of 12 officers spent Tuesday searching for 53-year-old Julie Anne Springer, who went missing on Sunday.
The search focused on the Pauatahanui Inlet near Plimmerton, north of Wellington.
Police said the body of a female was spotted by a member of the public near Duck Creek in the inlet.
Work is underway to formally identify the body and a post-mortem will be carried out.
Police said Ms Springer's blue Nissan Pulsar hatchback was found on Grays Road about 2.30am on Monday.
