Otago Museum has confirmed it is dropping a senior manager.

Last month the museum's new director, Ian Griffin, proposed one of the four managers go and he take on their responsibilities, as he pushes a new direction and cost-cutting measures.

The museum has announced it will disestablish the position of collections, research and experience director, held by Clare Wilson.

Ms Wilson was closely identified with the controversial previous director, Shimrath Paul.
