Worker gets home detention for breaking cows' tails

A former dairy farm worker has been sentenced to home detention for braking the tails of more than 40 cows.

Saul Beaumont, 23 pleaded, guilty to 46 animal cruelty charges laid by the SPCA.

He was sentenced in Hamilton District Court on Monday to four months' home detention and disqualified from working with dairy cattle for five years.

The charges relate to when he was working on a farm in Taranaki last year.
