Man denies homeless killing

1:09 pm on 25 September 2013

The man charged with murdering a homeless man in an Auckland park can now be named.

Grenville Kookie Fahey had been given name suppression at his first court appearance but that lapsed in the High Court at Auckland on Wednesday.

The 49-year-old's lawyer, Ron Mansfield, entered a not guilty plea on his client's behalf.

Mr Fahey will face trial in September next year for the murder of Steven Harris, who died in hospital from stab wounds after being attacked in Myer's Park earlier this month.

Justice Brewer remanded Mr Fahey in custody.
