The sale of Wellington Sevens tickets has been interrupted by a glitch in the ticketing system.
Tickets went on sale at 9am on Friday and more than 6000 were snapped up in about three minutes before the system crashed.
Uncertainty about what caused the problem forced organisers to take the remaining tickets offline until the system is fixed.
Sevens Wellington general manager Steve Walters says there are still 12,000 tickets remaining and the public will be advised via social media when internet sales will start again.
It is hoped ticket sales will resume on Friday afternoon.
