More than 20 people have joined the search for a man in his 70s who is missing after a boat capsized near Kaikoura on Tuesday morning.
Boats, a plane and a helicopter are helping in the search.
Two men, aged 74 and 79, set off this morning to check crayfish pots and their boat was later found semi submerged.
The body of the 74-year-old was found on the shoreline, about 200 metres from the stricken vessel. The body was wearing a lifejacket.
The boat has been towed to shore and will be examined by police investigators and Maritime New Zealand.
Police and the Coastguard are involved in the search.
