The Christmas-New Year road toll has risen to seven, with the death of a motorcyclist.
The 52-year-old was involved in a head-on crash with a ute on the Taihape-Napier Road on Thursday afternoon and later died in hospital.
The holiday period ends at 6am on Friday. Last year, six people died.
