For the first time in more than 20 years, the Royal New Zealand Ballet is to tour and perform in the United States.
The company will open its 2014 season with Giselle and a trio of contemporary works, which it will present in Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, Minneapolis and New York.
Artistic director Ethan Stiefel hopes the company will make its mark on the American stage, after two decades away.
He says the tour is the first step towards having a more regular presence in the United States.
The opening performance of Giselle is at the Los Angeles Music Centre on 31 January.
