Crown appealing Dotcom assets ruling

The Crown is appealing against a ruling that would have seen Kim Dotcom get his seized assets back.

When the internet businessman was arrested in Auckland in January 2012, the United States government asked for his assets be seized and the New Zealand courts agreed to the request.

Earlier this month the High Court in Auckland refused to extend court orders allowing that order to continue.

The Crown has filed an appeal against the ruling with the Court of Appeal.

The assets include 19 cars and jetskis and almost $200,000 worth of jewellery, electronics and art.

Mr Dotcom also has about $1 million in a bank account and $3.6 million in property.
