5:53 pm on 18 August 2014

Police in Whangarei are looking for a man who forced a woman to drive around town at knifepoint.

The 33-year-old woman was parked in the Lauri Hall carpark about 8.30am today when the man threatened her with a knife.

He forced her to drive to the Mair Park carpark, then an ATM in Kensington Avenue, and finally to the Town Basin carpark.

Police said the man left the woman in her car shaken but unhurt about 9am, and ran off towards James Street.

They want to hear from anyone who saw a silver people-mover car or the man, described as clean-shaven in his 30s or 40s, wearing a black hoodie and grey running shoes.
