Man on parole recall finally arrested

3:07 pm on 12 January 2010

A man was due to appear in court on Tuesday after the longest police hunt for someone on a parole recall warrant.

Paul Croot had been on the run since April last year. Police say he travelled between Fielding and Auckland, sometimes staying on yachts and in motels.

Mr Croot was found in Auckland at the weekend with two others who were also wanted by police.

He is accused of being involved in fraudulent activities while on the run, ranging from failing to pay for accomodation to attempting to purchase a multimillion-dollar property.

Mr Croot was due to appear in Hamilton District Court on Tuesday.
