Distinguished engineer and company director Sir John Ingram has died in Auckland, aged 90.
His career ranged from the Roxburgh Hydro scheme in the 1950s to manufacturing and the academic world.
Sir John Ingram became the first managing director of New Zealand Steel.
He held several directorships, including IBM and the National Bank, and was a pro-chancellor of the University of Auckland, and a president of the Auckland Manufacturers' Association.
Sir John was a trustee of the World Wildlife Fund and the Antarctic Heritage Trust, and served on the Waitangi Tribunal and the former Auckland Area Health Board.
He is survived by his wife Rosemary and their three daughters.
