Residents of Kawakawa Bay will have access to the main road again this Friday. The route has been cut for more than a month.
The Kawakawa-Clevedon road, in eastern Manukau is closed by a major landslip, forcing residents to make a 100km detour.
Manukau City Council says the road will initially only be a single lane and will be controlled by traffic lights.
Permanent improvements will be carried out over summer.
