A woman attacked and sexually assaulted in Palmerston North overnight suffered serious injuires.
The attack at about midnight in the suburb of Highbury was carried out by a group of three or more men.
Police are examining two scenes, and speaking to witnesses who had been in contact with the woman before the attack. They are asking anyone with information to come forward.
The woman was taken to Palmerston North Hospital.
