Police are appealing for witnesses to Friday afternoon's serious crash in Tauranga, in which two pedestrians died.
The crash occurred on State Highway 29A between Baypark and Welcome Bay, just after 4pm.
A blue Nissan travelling south struck three pedestrians who were attempting to change a flat tyre on a white SUV, police said.
There was a white Ford station wagon parked in front of the SUV.
Two of the pedestrians have died, with the third currently in Tauranga Hospital with serious injuries.
