Train drivers cancel strike notice

7:30 pm on 16 November 2016

The union for Dunedin railway workers has called off an impending strike, it says.

The Rail and Maritime Transport Union issued a notice of strike action last week for its members employed by Dunedin Railways over wage concerns.

The 24-hour strike was planned for 25 November.

However spokesman John Kerr said the union had a positive offer from Dunedin Railways and had withdrawn the strike notice, effective immediately.
