A search is under way near Taupō for a woman missing since early this morning.
Police are searching in and around the Waitahanui River for 75-year-old Barbara Thompson.
They said she regularly fished at the mouth of the river early in the morning, and usually returned home by 9am.
Police were called at 11am after Mrs Thompson's husband searched the area himself.
Her car is still parked near the river.
She is described as approximately 1.62m tall, of slim build, with short grey hair.
The Harbourmaster and the Coastguard have been searching the water today, while police and a number of locals have been searching nearby tracks.
