When the weather turns wild, a bit of company from our domesticated friends does not go amiss.
Recognising this, RNZ put out a call for pics of pets enjoying, or avoiding, the weather.
Indeed, some took to it with reckless abandon.
A friend's dogs in Fairlie this morning, there's 3 but one is like a tiny black fast moving mop so hard to capture. pic.twitter.com/e0qxCVXsF3— Tessa (@MissSNZ) July 13, 2017

Or took to it at a brisk walk, anyway.
Dusty made a fashionable and functional change to his usual winter coat.
And Bird and Piglet rugged up warm.

Even some of the wildest creatures sought refuge.
On days like today we like to give our animals plenty of options for warmth. Meluin the Tassie Devil loves to snuggle with his blanket! pic.twitter.com/3OImuotnVh— Wellington Zoo (@WellingtonZoo) July 12, 2017
But some still had to work.
