A man who crashed a car while fleeing from the police in Rotorua on Thursday night has died.

Police said the 24-year-old died of his injuries in Waikato Hospital overnight.
They signalled for the speeding car to pull over on Ford Rd and when the driver failed to stop, they chased him, police said.
Road spikes were set up but before they could be effective the driver crashed into a tree in Malfroy Rd.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing and the incident has been referred to the Independent Police Conduct Authority.
