It follows an operation in January that resulted in the discovery of two large P labs in Auckland and the arrests of four others.

Police said in a statement that a man believed to be the head of the syndicate evaded capture at the time.

"The wanted male has evaded police since January where he has allegedly continued to actively establish a drug trade network."

He and three associates were found and arrested in a west Auckland motel room on Thursday.

Further search warrants were executed at properties in Penrose and Blockhouse Bay, which resulted in another two arrests.

Along with the pure methamphetamine and cash, two pistols a sawn-off rifle and another clan lab were found.

Of the six people arrested, four have been charged and face a range of drugs and weapons charges.
