One person has died after a crash on State Highway 2 near Opotiki in eastern Bay of Plenty this afternoon.
Another is in a serious condition, and two others have moderate injuries.
The road is expected to be closed for some time and motorists are asked to avoid the area.
The Serious Crash Unit is investigating.
