Recap: Christchurch mosque terror attacks day 8

Thousands of Kiwis turned out this afternoon to pay tribute to those lost in the terror attacks last week, while more than two dozen were buried in a mass ceremony.

Today's mass funeral follows a nationwide reflection for those killed in the attack will be held, with the Muslim call to prayer at 1.30pm broadcast widely, followed by a two-minute silence at 1.32pm.

The prayer was held at Hagley Park, opposite the Al Noor Mosque in Deans Ave, Christchurch, which was one of the two mosques attacked a week before.

It follows Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern's announcement yesterday of a ban on all military-style semi-automatic weapons, assault rifles and parts used to convert firearms into MSSAs.
