Disability care workers employed by an IHC subsidiary will strike again today, following a week of failed mediation talks.
E tū, which represents some of the workers, said talks with Idea Services broke down on Thursday.
The workers want better pay and weekend rates as well as more health and safety rights.
An E tu spokesperson, Alastair Duncan, said today's 24-hour strike - the seventh strike in eight months - will start at 9am and will affect 600 residential homes.
"We've had multiple mediations, days of bargaining. Actually, people want to get on with the job of supporting New Zealanders with intellectual disabilities.
"That's why the symbolism of having had multiple strikes and it falling on deaf ears leaves us little option."
Mr Duncan said the union has asked the Employment Relations Authority to arrange a facilitation hearing for both parties on Tuesday.
Idea Services said it remains committed to working towards a collective agreement and continues to take part fully in negotiations and mediation sessions.
